Just wanted to let everyone know that moving day is this Saturday, March 4. I’m able to start moving as early as the 2nd, so after classes I’ll probably get started if I have the time. Otherwise, it’s studying/eating/sleeping until then. Let me know if you can make it!

Back in Canada *sob*
Sunday, February 26th, 2006Well, I’m back and already freezing my tootsies off. I decided to not go home tonight since it was giving flurries tomorrow and I can’t drive the truck in the snow. Hopefully the truck will find its way up here this weekend in time for me to move! Someone is coming to look at the keyboard tomorrow, so that’ll be awesome if they decide to buy it. That’ll mean less stuff for me to bring to the new apartment. I’m looking forward to the new digs. This is going to be a crazy week though, I’ve got a million projects underway plus this whole moving thing. I’m just hoping that I can get everything done that needs to get done without losing my mind. I needed like three weeks of spring break to get caught up.
I’ll be busy with school work and moving, so maybe I won’t be online so much. I’m hoping to find the time to chill out, but it’s looking like I’m going to have to really get to the grindstone and finish up everything – especially this distance course! Once that’s done, I can breathe a little easier. I’ve also got more wedding stuff to worry about, I’ve got the dresses here (finally! yay!!) and massive amounts of thank you cards to create and mail. It’s going to cost a large chunk of change to send them all! :) Ah, wish me luck, getting to next Monday is going to be an advevnture!
On the road again…
Thursday, February 23rd, 2006Today is our last day in Nacogdoches. I’m just waiting for Mike to be finished with school and then we will be on our way to Houston again, to finish out the remainder of our stay here. I’ve been talking to mom on and off since I’ve been up here, I figure that she’s having a great time up there what with all the shopping and such there is to do. Yesterday, Mike and I headed into Lufkin to get my ring checked out (we have to bring it in every 6 months to be covered by the lifetime warranty) and I picked up some new capris and a denim jacket. After my gift cards were all cashed in, I only paid $5.98 for the rest. That was pretty nifty. It looks like it might be warm enough today to be able to wear sandals outside. Yay! Last February was much warmer than this, it’s been kinda disappointing. It actually hit freezing a few times. I’m hoping for a warmer weekend, but we’ll see. I’ve still gotta pack up and maybe do some reading before he gets home. I already don’t want to leave, it seems as though the week went by way too fast. As it always does around here. I’m having a great time hanging out with Mike, and I wish it never had to end. Just a few more months though, and we can be together all the time! I’ve got lots to keep me busy in the coming months. Only one more month left of classes (can you believe it?) then I’ll be done winter term for the last time. Then one month of exams, 2 spring terms, with a wedding thrown in there, and FREE! Yeehaw! It doesn’t seem real that it’s only a few more months. Still pretty exciting!

I wanna be a cowboy’s sweetheart!…
Monday, February 20th, 2006Well, my second (and last) spring break visit to Texas! Last because after this, there won’t be any more spring breaks for me! I had my first wedding shower yesterday and it was quite a bit of fun. I don’t have any photos yet, but there sure was quite a few that were taken. I think I smiled for the camera more than anything else!
So here’s the list of shower presents for all those that want to know. First, I wanted to thank anyone that may have given something to us, all the gifts were lovely; even the ones not on our registry. We are pleased and very thankful! At the end of the post, I’ll put some information for other attendees who need a hotel for the wedding or want to send a gift. (These are in order of opening.)
- Throw pillows (matches with bedspread)
- Picture frame
- 8 quart pot
- Crystal wine decanter
- 1 place setting of china
- set of three frying pans
- 1 place setting
- measuring spoons and pyrex corningware set
- 10″ omelet pan
- bedspread (matches with throw pillows)
- toaster
- pyrex glass bakeware
- spice rack – prefilled with spices!
- 1 place setting
- 2 place settings
- handheld electric mixer
- vacuum cleaner
- blender and food processor combo
- 8×10 picture frame
- Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook
- pyrex corningware bake set (possibly same as #8)
- some monetary and gift card presents
So that was our haul! According to our registries, we’ve received a few other things but they haven’t been given to us or haven’t come in through the mail yet. I imagine we will continue to receive things up until our wedding date. Now I’ve got to start making thank you cards!
So here’s the info that I promised: hotels and motels can be found by downloading this word document. Our Amazon registry can be found here. Look up either me or Mike’s names in the registry place for Bed Bath and Beyond or Target to find our registries there. Happy hunting! Oh, and the wedding shower in Nova Scotia, we’re trying to NOT have actual gifts, so if you would like to give one, please have it sent to Texas (addresses are on the registries).
Warning: Cuteness Overload!
Friday, February 17th, 2006Here’s Alley with her new “cat house”. The first picture is pretty accurate for how she is looking right this moment. I laced it with fresh catnip from the petstore, and man, she loves it. She played with it for awhile then curled up inside and went to sleep. I’m glad she likes it and hopefully she’ll stay away from the couch now!

EEEEE!
Friday, February 17th, 2006I’m so psyched for going to Texas! I get to see Mike, get fun things for our house, and be in nice warm weather for a week. It’s giving rain in Houston, but ah well. It will be much warmer than here. I can handle rain: it’s not snow! I’ll just be happy to be there with Mike and have fun. I’m in between packing and cleaning right now, takin’ a break. I’ve put a bunch of things in my suitcase for leaving, board games, stuffed animals and such. I’m hoping I can squeeze a few more things in Mom’s suitcase. I can’t believe how tired I am – scratch that – I was up at 8am, no wonder I’m tired! Maybe I’ll take a nap before mom gets here.
Tonight, me and Mom are going to do a little bit of shopping. We’re going to look at mattresses and … oh, I need to buy Alley stuff. And go out for dinner! Yay, food! I’ve been having a hodge podge of whatever’s left. I’ll probably do more of the same when I get back until I find out when I’m moving. I’d like to move as little as possible if I can help it. That’s why I’m trying to get rid of big things. I’d like to find a home for my CD/DVD cabinet too. Maybe mom will want it, it’s really big and bulky and I just threw in it the closet because I had no room anywhere else. And since my new bedroom closet has a hot water tank in there, I’ll have no room! :) Well, I guess I’m going to pack up a few more things and then maybe play some Nintendo! You’ll hear from me again when I’m in TEXAS! Woooooo!
It’s almost heeeeeeere…
Wednesday, February 15th, 2006Hurrah! Only 3 more days until I jump unto a plane and get to Texas. I couldn’t be looking forward to it more than I am. I’ll be out of Wolfville and away from stress. Poor Alley will be shuttled around again, but that’s what happens when fiances are far away. She’ll be taken good care of, I’m sure of it, and will only be more than willing to attack me when I return for abandoning her.
I wrote two of my midterms today, one for Non Western and the other for Cold War Canada. I think they both went pretty well, my right hand is killing me though. I don’t think I got As on either one, but we’ll see when I get them back. I’ve got one last assignment to do for tomorrow and some reading to do, then I’ll be focussing on my distance course next week and maybe do some catch up reading. I have two essays to plan for when I return but other than that, I’m in the clear. Oh and a minor minor review for Non Western, but that can be submitted online so yay! I’ll probably do that while I’m up there too.
Went to go get advised again – last time hopefully. He said that the courses I want to take for Spring intersession are fine and he congratulated me on last semester. So as long as I pass this Athabasca course, then I’m all good to go, which is why I’m focussing a lot of my energy on it next week. It also means that I am definitely going to be here until June 16th, unless something goes wrong when I try to register. So you all get to keep me around for a bit! I am going to hussle my butt to Halifax one of these fine weekends, once all my schoolwork is under control. Us girls have a date with the dance floor! Not to mention a few yummy cocktails. I haven’t been out since … er. A while. Too long. We will go out! If only for a nice dinner.
Anyways, I’m still waiting to hear back from the apartment landlady – I assume that she is enjoying her vacation immensely and will get back to me whenever she is back in the office. Which is this Monday, although she said Tuesday might be more accurate. I’ll be back to sign my new lease the following Tuesday I think, it all depends on me getting the truck and whatnot, and if there is ice and snow and if we even fly back on the Sunday! Last year I had to stay in Texas for a few extra days. Ahh, that was so nice. Maybe we can do that again this year, hey weather? Hehe. I need to get rid of my stereo, couch, and possibly that table with the barstools BEFORE I move in. So if anyone wants them, let me know. At this rate, I will probably GIVE them away. I have some glasses too, if anyone wants them. They are sitting on my table (the one I’m trying to get rid of, haha) begging to be given a home. I don’t know how I accumulated so many things over such a small amount of time… oh yeah, now I know… mom keeps bringing me stuff!
Anyways, time to scrounge around and see what there is for grub, I’m starting to run low on the food front. Only a few more days left here, and I don’t want to buy a whole crapload of groceries before I move to the new place. I’ll probably eat everything I’ve got and then not buy a lot until I move and am settled; then I’ll do a huge grocery run. The less that I have to move – the better! I’m already thinking of things that is going to get dumped or given away or given back to mom. Like we have any room in that house either! Well, toodles, all!
Protected: Well — That lasted long.
