I really like this apartment, but I’m looking forward to looking for a place for me and Mike.

I mean, it’s decent as apartments go, it’s got spacious bedrooms and a nice large kitchen with plenty of counter space (albeit a small bathroom with no windows, how that annoys me). But it’s still student-size and I pity any family of more than two who chooses to live here. The amenities are severely lacking, but I imagine it would be less cost prohibitive to just buy a house around here. Only the super poor and spinsters/bachelors of Wolfville probably choose an apartment.

There was a while when I considered moving out and getting a bachelor apartment, I like having my own space that I’m in complete control of. I find that when it’s just me, it feels cleaner. I could be biased, but I like having that control. Of course, my room is a complete disaster zone, but this is where I do the bulk of my schoolwork and it gets out of hand when I have like 6 essays due in a short time period. In the end, the price of a bachelor pad was just too much to even consider. I’m very glad that I didn’t end up boarding with a bunch of other students. Some of the dirty places I saw was enough to make me run screaming. (Not to mention the creepy guy that showed me too places and then got up in my face at the bar that weekend — creepy!)

I also wish I could get rid of some of the clutter in my room. When I move to the states, 90% of the stuff in this apartment is not leaving the province. That’s a good estimate considering I have a bunch of things already in Texas. Most of my furniture that I have here is old as the hills. The only thing reasonably new is the dresser and I’ve still had it for at least 10 years. The bed that I am currently sitting on has been my bed since I was out of a crib. I think when I was still a youngin we changed the mattress, but otherwise, this has been it.

At any rate, I’m looking forward to going apartment hunting and picking out an awesometastic apartment that Mike and I will love. I’ve already got a few ideas of what I’m looking for, but I’m definitely curious to see what’s out there.
