New Additions!

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

Anyone who came here by way of the homepage will have noticed that something seems different. Sort of the same as yesterday, but not quite. I’m trying something a little different with my new designs for the site. I have a lot that I want to fix on here, so it takes time to plan and implement each thing. I got the new homepage and finally an About Me page. They’ve been a long time in coming, especially the About Me page, which I regret isn’t very informative but how informative does one want to be over the World Wide Web.

Not much else is going on, I washed my clothes in the sink today to avoid going outside in the pouring rain, plus I only needed to wash two things really, for tomorrow. I think I start prep cooking training tomorrow, my shift begins at 10am, I’ll have to let ya’ll know how that went.

Only 5:30 and I’m hungry! I’m going to walk to my mailbox and see if I have any mail, so far I’ve had mail every day (bills, flyers, and packages from Mom) and it’s always nice to get it, even it means that you have to pay out money you don’t have. It’d be nice to get my student loans money now, but I should be covered for rent and groceries for awhile. None of my bills are due really soon either, so I’m set for a week or so. I’m hanging in there! I can do it! I’m still living alone, but Robyn should be here within a week or so.

Oh, and the cat that I want to adopt is this one, Alley. What a cutie! If I can pay to have her spade, she’s mine to keep!

DVDs aplenty!

Sunday, August 29th, 2004

I just made a DVD list-y thingamajiggy, which you can check out right HERE, so knock yourself out.

I also found out Dawson’s Creek Season 4 is coming out on October 5th, which makes me very excited! HUZZAH! Anyways, not much going on here, just hanging out with Craig and stuff, made some kickass homemade pizza, and now it’s just chillin’.

Tomorrow looks like it might be a trip out to New Minas. Fun times. And it looks like the fruit flies are abating slightly since I tidied up and poured hot water down the drain for a few minutes.

Long Crappy Day

Saturday, August 28th, 2004

Well, got home from Halifax about an hour ago. It’s 4pm. I’ve been awake more than 12 hours on very little sleep. I feel like I’ve been run over, repeatedly. I’ll start from the beginning.

We had quite the hard time getting our hotel and everything figured out before we took off yesterday afternoon. It makes it difficult when his parents don’t know the layout of Halifax or the transportation schedules (heck, I hardly know those yet) and the flight was super mega early. 6:30am to be exact. I can’t remember the last time that I was awake so early. I didn’t sleep all that well anyways. However, we finally established that we would take the bus to the city, go to the Holiday Inn Express via taxi from the bus terminal, and then taxi early in the AM. We watched a movie and ordered in Pizza Delight and that was all fine. Fell asleep kinda early, but I kept waking up.

Halifax Or Bust

Thursday, August 26th, 2004

Well, only a few more days left until Mike has to head back for home and then start school whilst I sit here and miss him until January. Well there’ll be that little thing called school to contend with as well. Tomorrow sometimes, we’re heading on to Halifax by way of bus and hanging out in the great city. Or something like that.

Everything else is coming along fine, my first night at work was last night and it went ok. I’m heading to work again today for my second night of training. Then next week I’m starting on prep cook training. Dishwashing was pretty exhausting last night, I’m not used to working in an all male environment. All the women are out in the dining room. It’s a bit odd for now, but I’m sure that I’ll get used to it.

Anyways, for now I have to do up a few things before I leave for work. I probably won’t be updating until I get back from Halifax.

Moved In, Completely

Sunday, August 22nd, 2004

Well, I’m stuck in Wolfville with no hope of rescue until mid-October. YAY! I have all of my doodads and hobbies and junk up here, plus the fifth Harry Potter book, all of which to keep me busily entertained after Mike leaves this Saturday.

I am witness to the fact that Canada isn’t as cold as Mike anticipated after he donned shorts yesterday, and complained he was getting a headache from the heat. Now, I don’t have any airconditioning in here (let’s face it, I don’t need it) but at least he knows that our summer isn’t as cold as he thought it was going to be. January, on the other hand, is going to make him run scared back to Texas. But that means that we’ll have to have a steady supply of hot chocolate and warm blankets for him!

We’ve been having a good time together though, and I’ll hate to see him go. Tomorrow I finally get my Acadia laptop, so good times will be there when we can both hook up at once, who knows if we’ll ever take advantage of that of not. But other than that, we’ve got trips into New Minas and restaurants to see and all kinds of fun things. I’ve been working on the pictures page a little bit today, so the Vacation Gallery has a few new things on the Cozumel portion. Keep your eyes peeled for a new favorites page layout pretty soon.

Only One More Day!

Saturday, August 14th, 2004

A little bit over 24 hours to go before Mike and I are reunited after 3 long weeks apart. How I’m going to survive 4 months without going out of my gourd is beyond me at this moment. But I’ll worry about that later! For now all I have to concern myself with is finding the right gate to meet him at 4:55 tomorrow evening. I have until then to devour the fourth Harry Potter book before I get all lost and confused picking it back up in 2 week’s time.

Mom got here a few minutes ago, already complaining about my housekeeping style. This wouldn’t be so bad if I hadn’t tidied up and cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom this morning. I even made my bed, which I never do. And still, with the complaining and nagging. This is why living on my own is a wonderful thing. I have to spent one more week at home but after that I shall be free!

I finally got unlazy after Mike decided to take up nagging me, and uploaded my vacation pictures. So finally, without further ado.
VACATION PICS!

Enjoy.

At the Apartment!

Thursday, August 12th, 2004

Well, I’m finally here, been here for the past 5 or 6 days and I’ve managed to unpack everything besides two boxes and my clothes (no dresser as of late) and get my phone and internet hooked up, look around for a job and make slight modifications to my website. Also, I’m on the fourth Harry Potter book after starting them this Sunday. I think this one will take more than a few days to read, it’s around 600 pages and I’m only on chapter 11. Getting the phone and the net kinda makes it difficult to read for 5 hours at a time without being tempted to go online or chat. I’ve been keeping the place fairly clean. I have a pile of dirty dishes at the moment, but I plan to take care of them tonight after I make myself some supper. Today is the first day that I haven’t gone downtown for anything, I pretty much stuck to the apartment today. Sometimes, I’m going to go down and investigate my mailbox and see if they stuck the new key in it yet.

Pictures!

Friday, August 6th, 2004

I finally found my card reader so I could download and then share all these pictures for you all. For a description, you can just hover your mouse over the pictures and read the Text that pops up! (Or alt text for those in the know).

What’s that you say? The address? Silly me! http://www.meags.net/apt.html! Knock yourselves out! That’s it for me, busy with visiting and packing up the truck tonight.

T Minus Two Days

Friday, August 6th, 2004

Well, the time for moving has almost arrived. The Visa is ready for its first few uses. Saturday should be an interesting day. Funny that my mom will spend her wedding aniversary with me, shopping for the new apartment. Although dad’s too sick these days to do much of anything.

Tomorrow I guess I have to pack up the rest of my things. Which, thank goodness, doesn’t include the Compusaur. It means that all my things that I’ve scattered on the floor need to be put into boxes and named. [evidence]

The Life and Times of the Unemployed

Monday, August 2nd, 2004

Being out of work is incredibly boring. No two ways around it, I wish I were working right now. Not only do I have no money but I’m bored, and I can’t remedy that by going to see a movie on my current no funds budget. Not to say I have nothing to do at the moment. I could browse through the THorum if my computer wasn’t on the verge of busting any second. I could finish up those cross stitches for my aunt. I could put a movie in the DVD player. I could finish packing. Nintendo. Roll change. Scrapbooking. Reading. But do I want to do any of that? No. Knowing I have tons of time for all of that because my time doesn’t need to be shared with work makes me incredibly lazy.

Although I think that after I finish this up, I might just go offline and start going through what I want and don’t want at the apartment. Then after that I might go through what classes I want to register for in a week. The key word here is might. And when Mike gets home from class, most of that might go out the window in favor of talking to him.
