Well, things haven’t been much busier around here but a few little things here and there are going on. Finished one of three cross stitches for my aunt, just need to do the finishing stitches on it, but I started the next one before bothering with it because I hate the backstitching with unadulterated passion. I’m walking around again, went to work yesterday and that was fine. Today was my day off so I lounged around and cross stitched most of the day. Jenny came over this morning and helped me pack a few things, and gave me some tips. She has sooo much room in that suitcase I’ll be just fine even with the things I want to bring home with me (including Sketchers! Pink ones!) and whatever things Mike gives me to take home!

She also gave me a detailed description of what I should be doing at the airport which will be nice. I also plan on buying a journal to write everything I’ll be doing in it, and then I can share excerpts with my blog readers. I’ll be taking lots of pictures too, so everyone can see the places I’ve been to etc etc. Only one week left folks! Pretty awesome stuff.

Mom fixed up my blue dress tonight (finally!) so I’ll have that to take with me, and I’ve started rounding up all my other things. I hate packing so far in advance because I always need something, unpack it, then forget to repack it. Bah. I should make a list or something. I’m getting sooo excited. Mom talked to his mom again tonight which makes her feel better about things. Dad’s still being a crankypants, but what can you do?

I bet you wanted to know what the “fiasco” in the title refers to… well read on, my friends.

Last August me and Mandy decided to go back to school shopping together, and she was just starting university so she had to get a crapload of stuff. I wanted some new clothes mostly, that’s the best part of back to school shopping! We bought a few things at Zellers and then went to Sobeys so that I could get money out of the ATM there. Well, I got my 20$ and waited for it to spit out my debit card but it didn’t come out. We went to tell the manager but she said that they couldn’t do anything about it, they didn’t touch the machine, it wasn’t their responsibility. Fine. We’d have to wait until Monday morning to call the company and get my card back. I figured I might as well call the Credit Union instead and just cancel my card on Monday, instead of bothering with the friggin’ ATM. Mandy offered to lend me whatever I needed to pay for whatever clothes I wanted, and I would write her a cheque when we got back to my house. So we went and did our shopping and I was a little pissed at the whole debit card thing, so I probably bought more clothes than I otherwise would have. (Although that’s when I bought the AWESOME brown pants that I love to death.)

Mandy brought me home and we told the story to mom, and she shook her head, while I wrote out a $200 cheque to Mandy. We showed her the stuff we bought and then Mandy went home. Thirty minutes later, Mandy calls me. “Check your wallet,” she says. I’m puzzled but do it anyways. I stare in shock and she says “It’s in there, isn’t it?” Yes, yes it is. I must have not noticed when I put the card back into my wallet. I guess the same thing happened to her dad once. So we had a good laugh over it and then I figured she’d cash the cheque and be done with it.

Not so. In October, I needed money for books and she still hadn’t cashed the cheque, so I took that money to buy the books and told her to rip it up because it would bounce. I promised to pay her at Christmas time. I didn’t make enough to buy Christmas presents, let alone pay her back. So finally, it’s nearing July and I still haven’t paid her back. I paid half, in cash, but there’s still half left.

I’m proud to say that the other half is sitting on my dresser right now, and ready to give to her with still enough travelling money to get by and a hefty sum saved for school. I thought I was never going to pay her back, it good to be done with that. I hate having bills hanging over me! Speaking of which, I should probably put some aside for my upcoming cell bill. BAH. It never ends!
