Leaving on a Jetplane

Wednesday, June 30th, 2004

Well, my last entry in this thing until I’ll be in Texas! Feels weird to say, i can’t believe it’s already here. Time goes by so fast. Even though we thought it was going too slow at the time! :) But here I am, ready to take off to Halifax, spend the night in the Holiday Inn, and then fly to Texas in the morning. The on Saturday I get to board on the Cruise! Fun times had by all. Well, except all of you that are stuck home, reading this blog. S’ok, you’ll live ;) (Aren’t I mean?)

I’ll probably not be around to chat to, unless I steal some msn time which I don’t think I’ll have time to even think about. I’ma try and write something in here sometimes while I’m there, just so ya’ll know that I’m ok!

Other than that, I’m going to head into the city, have some city food, and try to relax all night before being all twisted up in knots from nervous at being on the plane. If anybody makes a “we’re gonna crash” joke, there may be a strangling on the news. Either that or some girl had a heart attack. But anyways, I’m off and I’ll talk to you all when I get back! :D

Mall Trip!

Saturday, June 26th, 2004

Had a fun day out with the girls today on my last Saturday at home. In one week I’ll be on a cruise ship! How nutzoid is that? Pretty darn nutzoid, I think! Anyways, we started the evening with a supper at Pizza Delight, which is always a good time in my book. It was only the second time the group of us have hung out since I’ve been home from Acadia. I’ve some pictures from that. Check out Holly, Mandy, Sarah, and me!! (We had Holly go camera happy tonight :P)

Meagan & The Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day

Thursday, June 24th, 2004

It started off alright. I woke up 3 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off, and groaned inwardly. But when it went off, I got up and got ready for work and left. Got to work, and well, worked. Ola was being a little sassy, but I figure she’s not a morning person because by the end of the day she was semi-chipper. Corinne got grouchier as time went on, but she’s been grouchy with me ever since I put in my two weeks. I have no idea why she’s grouchy — SHE’S going on paid vacation next week. Yes, you heard me. Oh, and she’s not the only one, Irene is going on one the first week in July. Now Trina told ME she couldn’t make an exception for one. RIIIGHT. Sure.

But anyways, who walks in but Kelsey Surette (girl that lives down the road from me) in full dining room attire. I was confused but then quickly found out she was my replacement. How nice. Trina made sure I knew it, too. Fine, whatever, she can have my lower paying job with fewer hours. Take it! But to add insult to injury, she’s hired two other waitresses. So you couldn’t make me one, but they sure can waitress even though I’ve been there for 3 years. Ok, fine. I can’t believe it, really. I’m not superworker at large, or anything, but I have worked pretty hard. I would have worked every weekend without complaint. I worked extra shifts for sick people, I rarely took time off, and rarely called in sick. And still, I just get nagged and harassed and called stupid by the bulk of my coworkers for doing something I feel is important.

The Debit Fiacso and Other Happenings

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2004

Well, things haven’t been much busier around here but a few little things here and there are going on. Finished one of three cross stitches for my aunt, just need to do the finishing stitches on it, but I started the next one before bothering with it because I hate the backstitching with unadulterated passion. I’m walking around again, went to work yesterday and that was fine. Today was my day off so I lounged around and cross stitched most of the day. Jenny came over this morning and helped me pack a few things, and gave me some tips. She has sooo much room in that suitcase I’ll be just fine even with the things I want to bring home with me (including Sketchers! Pink ones!) and whatever things Mike gives me to take home!

She also gave me a detailed description of what I should be doing at the airport which will be nice. I also plan on buying a journal to write everything I’ll be doing in it, and then I can share excerpts with my blog readers. I’ll be taking lots of pictures too, so everyone can see the places I’ve been to etc etc. Only one week left folks! Pretty awesome stuff.

Mom fixed up my blue dress tonight (finally!) so I’ll have that to take with me, and I’ve started rounding up all my other things. I hate packing so far in advance because I always need something, unpack it, then forget to repack it. Bah. I should make a list or something. I’m getting sooo excited. Mom talked to his mom again tonight which makes her feel better about things. Dad’s still being a crankypants, but what can you do?

I bet you wanted to know what the “fiasco” in the title refers to… well read on, my friends.

Nearing July

Monday, June 21st, 2004

Well, folks. The single digit countdown has almost begun and the first day of summer is upon us. FINALLY! But my ankle is still having a cow every time I exert it just a tiny bit, so we’ll se if I can handle a day at work tomorrow. It’s been 5 days since I’ve been to work, so that’s quite a bit of off time. Almost done there, though, which is kinda crazy thinking about it. I can’t believe in a week and a few days I’ll be boarding a plane and heading to Texas.

So far I’ve done very little in the way of preparing for my trip. Got flip flops and a new outfit, but still need sunscreen and some sort of sneaker apparal. Hopefully of the pink persuasion. It’d be nice to pick up that bathing suit I saw when I’m in Halifax, nice wish but just ain’t gonna happen. I’m getting $50 from my neighbors which will go towards my travelling expenditures, and other then that, whatever I can manage to scrape out of my cheques for a little bit extra.

Well, I suppose that it’s from me, not too much going on when I’m stuck sitting around and cross stitching all day. Tomorrow it’s back to work so we’ll see how that goes. Other than that, I just have to get myself into Yarmouth and then get Jenny down here for some mad packing. Huzzah!

Sprained.

Thursday, June 17th, 2004

Well, I’m sitting here, typing away on a whole lot of stuff. Forums, msn convos, etc etc. Why am I not out enjoying the beautiful weather? Because I had to go and sprain my ankle. Yeah, I should be at work right now, making some extra cash because I sure as heck need it. I don’t even know how I did it. Yesterday I noticed at work that it hurt, but didn’t pay much attention, then around supper it hurt a bit more, and I went for a walk with mom to see if that would fix it and now I can barely walk. Sooo, I guess that didn’t really help too much. I have a huge friggin’ bruise and had to miss out on the musical at the local theatre which REALLY sucks because it’s none other then Copacabana! Truthfully, I can’t afford it anyways.

Music Game Results

Tuesday, June 15th, 2004

Well, it’s a lot later then I said it would be, but here it is. All the answers are HERE! Enjoy.

I didn’t do much else today, I can’t find my credit card though, and that’s not really a handy thing. I was going to cut it up when I received it, but then I thought that it might be handy to take along with me, but alas I haven’t seen it in over … 3 weeks? It’s been awhile. So I might head over to the bank and set up a student credit card with a $500 limit or something. It might come in handy with the apartment and all. And if I get too tempted? I’ll cancel it. No biggie. I’ve been better about my spending lately. I haven’t been into town as much either. I’m always talking to some boy on the internet. Just some boy. ;)

Stupid Is As Stupid Does

Monday, June 14th, 2004

Well, news travels fast around here, that’s for sure. People are so chatty in small towns! I am officially the talk of the Red Cap now, since I gave my two weeks. I ranked even higher then Steph’s little $1000 run in with an SUV. I don’t know, most of the time I’m like yes, this is what I want *pats back* good decision. But all the naysayers get to me a little. Most of them are older, lived longer, are “wiser”, so shouldn’t they know better than me?

But I also think about how they are stuck here. Growing up, this was the last place I wanted to live in. Too small, too many narrow minds, just not big enough for the dreams I had. I’ve always dreamt big.

2 Weeks Notice

Sunday, June 13th, 2004

Well I finally did it, left my two weeks notice at the Red Cap Restaurant. Some think I’m crazy, others know that I have to do this. My last day is the 28th of June. This isn’t quite how I expected it all to turn out, back in April! I knew I wanted to stay in Wolfville, but wasn’t aware I’d actually get to go back early! This rocks in so many ways.

Tomorrow, I’m heading into town to get my Travellers insurance and fax out my resumes to Wolfville. I just never stop going! At least now that the passport is outta the way things can calm down a lot. That was the biggest concern. So it looks like I’m embarking on a nutzoid adventure! Huzzah! The more I hear about cruises and everything, the more anxious I am! 18 DAYS!!!

Day Trips are Fun!

Thursday, June 10th, 2004

Phew! What a fun day I had, all starting at 7:30am when my alarm went off. I managed to get off the phone with Mike early enough to actually get a decent night’s sleep, so I was fairly chipper when I got in the shower at 8am. Had a quick breakfast and got my stuff together. I was all ready to go by 8:30 (I’se a keener!), so mom drove me to the PetroCan gas station in Pubnico, and mom and I chatted a bit while waiting for the shuttle to get there.

Around 9, she pulls up and I get in. First thing she says is “No luggage?…Oh! You’re the passport girl!” Yes I am! I get in the back next to a rather large black girl, and sit there waiting to get on the road.
