Soulmates

Saturday, May 29th, 2004

My favorite show is Dawson’s Creek. What an interesting factoid, you say, now get on with it! (I have a point.) That show dealt heavily with the subject of soulmates. I just watched the show mainly because I fell in love with the characters (not literally!! i’m not THAT crazy!) and their setting. I didn’t really pay all that much attention to the soulmates deal throughout most of its duration. It really only made an impression on me in the very last episode.

Jen: I know. I mean, from the second that I stepped out of that cab and onto the creek, I–I was the instigator, you know? The girl who caused problems and rocked the creek and upset the delicate emotional balance of Capeside, and–and I don’t want Amy to be that person. I want her to belong. I feel like I never really did.
Jack: Jen, you belong. You belong to me. Don’t you get it? [Sniffles] You’re my soul mate.

Clean Your Own Dang Table

Friday, May 28th, 2004

Alright. I know that when you go into a restaurant some of the tables look nicer, are in better locations etc etc then others. But when you’re a regular, does that give you some sort of table stealing power? No. But the locals have got it in their head that they do sometimes. Even the non locals.

What the heck was that ramble about, you ask? Well, let me tell you. Busgirls aren’t usually busy. The waitresses and kitchen staff are running around like crazy and we busgirls just bring menus and clean up the mess left behind. No big deal. But today I was going straight for 2 hours. Why? Because people SIT AT THE DIRTY TABLES. Why!? I can’t imagine I’ve ever done this. Usually if I see a table that I’d normally prefer is dirty, I’ll settle for something else, as long as it has been cleaned and set, because quite frankly, I don’t want to sit in front of someone else’s mess. I never even considered what a pain it would be for those working.

Music Game

Thursday, May 27th, 2004

On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first twenty songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down your favourite line of the song. Try to avoid putting the song title in the line. Then, have your friends comment and see if they know the songs.

Errands

Thursday, May 27th, 2004

Now, I know I’m a bit on the dorky side, but never really have been the Suzy Homemaker type. I let my dishes pile up for days (a month is my record thus far), my laundry gets done when I run outta socks, I let my Pepsi cans fill up my desk space (current count is at 18), and don’t pick up things I drop on the floor. I’m constantly getting yelled at for it, but I still don’t really move much to clean it up, I try to keep the rest of the house looking fairly devoid of Meags’ Mess, but my room is my pigsty. But when I get cleaning, I go the whole nine yards.

And today, I was up reasonably early. So I showered, got ready, and rolled all my change from tips that I’ve collected in the past month. Asked dad for the car, then took off towards Pubnico.

Fights Aren’t Fun

Wednesday, May 26th, 2004

Well, I knew it was only a matter of time before me and mom had it out. It so happened that today was that day. It all started innocently enough. I spent the night at Holly’s, where she braided my hair (pictures forthcoming) in 5 hours time. Also had some fun webcammy chats hehe.

But anyways, mom came to pick me up and we stopped at Sobeys for a minute to pick up Pepsi with my last 10 bucks. I even sorta mentioned that I only had enough for the case of 12 even though I firstly grabbed the 24 case (this is important, trust me). So we got in the car and took off for home.

Yarmouth Cinemas

Saturday, May 22nd, 2004

Well, last night I took myself (and three whacko friends!) to see Shrek 2. It was fun, but the most newsworthy part of the trip is more like an observation of the place we viewed the movie in. Although, before I start, I gotta say I really enjoyed it, and laughed my ass off. The references were great, the music was funny, the story was awesome, and the jokes were bang on! Yes! Money well spent!

Anyways, before I start I should talk about Yarmouth a little. It used to be a thriving ship importation area, then it was almost ghost town, then it started to pick up a little bit and that leads us to the present day. So Yarmouth is a tad on the poor side. Not a lot goes on, the tourists probably keep the place afloat and we don’t even get all that many. Seriously, half the people in the States don’t even know where Nova Scotia IS! It may be a tiny peninsula off the east coast of Canada, but we’s still here!

A Funny Break!

Thursday, May 20th, 2004

After the cruddy money probs, I remembered I was supposed to add Dr. Mandy’s weightloss theory!

So, you eat and the food gets to your stomach. Now, if you could eat standing up maybe it would surpass your stomach, slip down through your hollow leg, and collect in your ankles. The only problem now, is that you have an extra five pounds around each of your ankles and suddenly walking is a challenge. The good news is that you can wear a size 3 pant!

Ah, Mandy! What would we do without ya!?

Broke

Wednesday, May 19th, 2004

Well I was hoping I’d have more stories of Red Cap capers today, but nothing much happened in the 5 and a half hours I was there today. Worked with Mandy and Leah. Served people. Drank really gross OJ from our new “soda gun”. (I’d say pop but pop gun is something else).

Yesterday’s spending frenzy got halted today when the stupid STUPID cell cheque finally cleared and put me under about 10$. Not good. So I dumped all the cash I had on me into it, which left me with a balance of $1.89 and no money to go see Shrek 2 tomorrow night. I can’t remember the last time I had to borrow money from my parents to go see a movie. This is why only working during the summer is a bad bad thing. I should have gotten a job during the school year. Hell, I should have stayed in Wolfville, but it’s a bit late for that now.

Coffee Breakers

Tuesday, May 18th, 2004

Well I said that today I would have more of a story for you all, and so here we go. I went to work today and had to deal with working amidst Coke Guys and finicky coworkers. I don’t know why we all can’t get along. Seriously. I’m no better, I complain too. Joan irritates me because she’s slow. Alicia irritates me because she’s moody. And I always feel like I’m in their way, unless I’m at cash. It’s like they would rather clean the tables and bring menus and water to customers (ie, my job) then do cash and answer the phone (extra perks of my job — by perks I mean that most bussers can’t use the cash system). I’m not sure why this is, exactly. I mean, cash is fun. And although I used to be deathly afraid of answering the phone, now I’m one of the first to reach for it. I would much rather be at cash then telling people what the special is. That could be partly because I always feel like I’m mixing up the specials. Ricken and chice soup, anyone?

Kitteny Goodness!

Monday, May 17th, 2004

Well, I was sleeping in this morning (er, what a surprise!) and I heard something I haven’t heard ’round these parts in awhile… meowing! I ran upstairs to see the cuteness!! She’s a little grey and white kitten, with blue eyes as big as saucers. Once I get my webcam (it’s looking like this week!) I’ll be posting up pictures of the wee one.

She’s already taken to scratching me up beyond recognition but I suppose that’s alright. I can’t wait to have my own cat. This little one is too hyper! I need a nice, calm cat that’ll just sleep all day. And be lazy like me. Although this one seems to like the computer, which means me and this little furball have a lot in common!

Not much else to report. It’s funny, something happens during the day and I think “I’ve gotta write this in my blog so it doesn’t get boring and full of me saying Hrm, well, nothing happens in MY life” but I always forget and I’m back to the ho-hum boringness. Tomorrow: I promise. A story. About the Red Cap, perhaps? We’ll have to see!
